Youngstown Business Incubator

Board of Directors  2007-2019

YBI is ranked among the best in the world for University-associated incubators according to the University Business Incubator Index. They have had significant success supporting start-ups in business-to-business software, including Turning Technologies, a 300 employee company located on the YBI campus in downtown Youngstown. Recent collaboration with the YSU STEM College, and their activity as landlord for America Makes, has allowed for expansion into advanced and additive manufacturing. This collaboration has brought national and international attention to the area through the development of new additive manufacturing technologies, and the development of the first two spin-out companies from the YSU STEM College.

OH Wow! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology

Board of Directors    2008 - 2014

OH Wow was dedicated as a children’s hands-on STEM museum at its new location in downtown Youngstown in 2011. The Board identified its new mission, raised over $2,000,000 in donor funding, rented space in a downtown facility, renovated the facility, and invested in new exhibits. The relocation of the center has been recognized as a key element in the revitalization of downtown Youngstown. The center is a leader for K-6 informal science education throughout the Mahoning Valley, with over 10,000 student visits per year. My commitment to the STEM mission, and my ability to involve STEM faculty and students in the development of exhibits, student and technical support for its operation, and general support in the community, was a critical underlying factor that allowed the new facility to thrive.
